Carvings

Here are a few carvings that
I have done in the recent past.
The Hedge Apple Farm carving was
done for their business
labels.

Family Theme Stools

Family Theme Stools

Here are a few wood stools that I have designed
and painted. I will add more as photos become
available. I love to design these for families using
a special verse or saying and incorporating an
art theme that represents the family's interest's, pets, hobbies etc.

Card/Book for Paige's B-friends birthday.

This card was so much fun to make! The expression on Jon's face was worth all
the effort and time. The colors are more subtle than the photo's show. Will have
to do some more of this kind of card.

Let him eat cake!

                                              Here is a cake that I painted for Paige's b-friend's 21st birthday.
The top photo is the more accurate photo.

The wolf is from the movie 'Hoodwinked", so is the
comment at the top of the cake. If you haven't seen that
movie you should, it is so funny!

Inspired by butter molds

Here are three images I carved based on some old butter molds.
I feel drawn to circles for some reason and
these three images were so interesting.
The actual carving is a true circle, the scanner
seems to skew the image a little
and makes them look like ovals.

Water color and verse

Was working with a fellow artist and friend today. This turned out nicer
than I anticipated, considering I was supposed to
                                                                         'do' art!

A carving just recently completed. This one was fun to do.
Quite a challenge to keep each side symetrical.

Couldn't leave Seth out, so I made him a marble/pencil bag.
I love the way the plaid design of the wool added to the cat!

This is another wool, embroidered purse, this one for Paige.
The colors of the wool are so vibrant and beautiful!
Here is a wool purse that I embroidered for my daughter Nina. She loves lambs.

Nut Hatch Carving

This is a carving I did for my daughterPaige. She loves these little birds and has written a story about one called Blueband. I love to hear their 'song' on my walks in the woods. You usually find them clinging upside down to the trunk of a tree, they are in the Woodpecker family.

card done with Seth's carved image

This is a card made with the image I carved. I stamped the image over an old map, colored the image lightly with pencils, and also added some color to the background of the map. then added the words and brads at the corners. The scanner made it look a little bit greener, the chair should be browner, and his face more skin tone!

White Bindweed Carve

I have done this flower/weed on a gourd before and thought that it might make a good carving. It did not turn out as well as I had imagined , but some people like it!

Leaf's Moth

This is a carving done from a drawing that my daughter Paige had done. I fell in love with the design, modified it a little bit, printed it on some homemade paper, and then highlighted the moth with a little extra color.

Folk Art Flowers

A carving of one of my favorite things...flowers!

Seth with blue jean flap cap!

This is one of the first carvings that I did. Seth, my youngest was about 1 year old here.

PV- 21 March carving, Chicks and Eggs

Here is another carving that was done for the Easter season. The eggs are a separate carving, so the chicks can be used by themselves.

Carvings for PV-21 Carving Group

Joined a carving group, PV-21, this year. These are two of the images I have carved. The portrait was something I had only tried once  before so thought it would be interesting to see what would come of it.  I think I like the graphic nature of the final result. The pipe/strap image was quite a challenge with all of the layers, I like the pipes curling off into the distance.

Rubber Stamp Sheets

Here are the first two sheets of rubber I have had made from my original drawings and carvings.  This is one form of art that I did not anticipate falling in love with. But I find it so facinating, and challenging. It takes my drawings to a whole different level and can be used in so many ways. I hope you enjoy the images as much as I enjoyed drawig and carving them!

First Post!

Hello, this is my first ever attempt at having a blog. This is mostly a place where I will try to share a little bit of my art and other attempts at creativity.
I have always been fascinated with art, in many different forms. I remember going into a stationary store with my mother and just oohing and aahing  over the clean white paper that , in my mind , so much could be done with!  I feel most like myself when I am creating or drawing something.
