Gourd Vase, pyrography
This gourd is the top half of a huge bottle neck gourd.
I layered a disc of wood to the stem end so it would have
a nice base to sit on. It was unusual because the interior fiber that usually balls up, had dried
to the walls of the gourd creating a mother of pearl finish to the
entire inside of the gourd. The outside art work is the flower and vine of the
White Bindweed, a less friendly member of the Morning Glory family!
Gourd Art, burned and painted
A few of the gourds that I have done some art work on.
My favorite technique is drawing and then burning the design into the surface,
called pyrography. I will add some more of the more
detailed pieces, soon.

Coffee filter flowers, verse and bird carve
Another take on the coffee filter paper...
Ironed the filter flat, inked it with a background stamp.
Cut spiral flowers and leaves from it. Also used cashmere dryer lint for
the nest under the bird! Branch is watercolor crayon.
New carving.....New cards
Here is a carving I made from a sculpture located in
Nikko, Japan. It is printed with Brilliance
Pearlescent Chocolate Ink, on unbleached
coffee filters. That paper is interesting to print on.
Here is my bunny carving, also using one of ggdesigns
pussy willow stamps. Embossed a strip of paper
using Zing metallic finish embossing powder, then
cut the top edge into grass strips and glued
down to bottom edge.Top of card is shaded using
good old fashioned colored pencils.
Recent bird carving, verse carve.
Shaded with colored pencils.
Another version!
Here is a card using one of my favorite ggdesign
images, her poppy. It is a two piece carving.

Fish , Verse carvings
Card made with fish and verse carvings I've done
recently. The 'sea weed' was done using dog food bag
'paper' I made using alcohol inks. Gives a nice
shimmer to the sea weed.

Carving of glass bottles made from recycled glass
I saw a photo of these glass bottles

I new I had to try to carve them.
Carving the layers of glass
was a challenge. Recycled glass
has such a beautiful color!

Bird cage carving, card
This is a card that I made using a gg Designs (STAMPSggdesigns@aol.com) bird image
and a birdcage and word image that I carved. Used the feet of the bird at the bottom of
the card. Added some ribbon to the right and
layered the word stamp over that.

Bird on Barbed Wire Carving with Japanese Kanji word
Went to look for the original
carving of this little bird
the other day and could find
no trace of it. Thankfully I
had a print of it, so I ended
up carving another one. True love :).
Added a little Japanese character carving.
I can't decide which bird I like
better. Hopefully I will find the first
one someday.When you lose something
that you've created, it is almost like
losing a child! Melodramatic I
know, but I think other creative
people will know what I mean!
Anyone else understand?

Year of the Rabbit!
I love Rabbit's, so I was glad to make this the first carving of the year
for the PV-21 group, doubly so since it was the
Year of the Rabbit. I loved drawing out the Japanese characters, and
printing them in gold was so elegant!
Madonna and Child carving
This is a carving that was done for the December issue
of the PV-21 group,2010
The first baby I carved I ended up not liking so I
drew and carved another baby image,
masked the other baby, printed the Madonna, and then printed
the new baby right over where the first baby was supposed to
have been!
