Final piece of art in the 30 day challenge! :) Thanks for looking!

Colored Pencil
This is the final piece of
art in the 30 day challenge that
I set for myself.
I have enjoyed this so very much.
Made me realize how much more I can
achieve with my art on a day to day
basis. Now I will be working on
larger pieces of art. I have a few
commissioned pieces that I
am looking forward to working on.

Abstract Acrylic

Didn't think I would ever say that
I enjoy doing abstract paintings.
But I love the freedom of
just starting and seeing where it
takes you!

Crewel Work Cards

Three more cards using the
reclaimed Crewel Work.
I like to think that the artist
that created the original work
would be happy to see it have a
second life. It was so badly
damaged by the acid in the backing
(wood paneling) that it wasn't
pretty any more.

Crewel Work Card

Crewel Work
Card made from some
damaged, recycled embroidery.
couldn't bear the thought of throwing
some ones hard work away, so
I gave it a new life!

Leather Pyrography

Leather Pyrography

Using suede , I burned an
image  of a little kitty.
This medium is so
soft and delicate to work on,
and the results are nice.
Might make a little pillow
out of it.

Simple, Fun, Carving

Carving.
Received a grouping of
new, different  carving materials
from a dear friend. This is a very simple
carving done on one of those new
pieces. Like my old faithful
better, so far.
This is number 17 in the series.

Calligraphy. Pencil and Ink

Collage with Calligraphy

I love the feeling that the thought
of Winter gives me. Chilly, blustery,
an air of anticipation greets me with just the
mere thought of winter.

A Carving
Made a  small carving of an airplane and banner,
used it to make a fun thank you card.
Drew some clouds in for the background.
Showed it to my hubby-who happens to be a pilot- and he
quickly pointed out that the tail is missing it's stabilizer bar! Ooops, well we can
just imagine that it's there, because I can't put in what has been carved away!

Pencil Portrait of my Grandmother Casber, born
in 1893.

She was such a neat person, and a very good artist.
I loved going to her house. It smelled of
oil paints, and turpentine and other 'artsy' things.
Besides the fact that she always had
green grapes just for me!
I wonder what she would have to
say about this portrait of her....
Over the years I have drawn and painted her
at least three times.
All of them from just a  small photograph that I
have of her, probably taken when she was
about 18 or 19 years of age.
On the back it says - written lovingly by my grandfather-
My Sweetheart, My Dear Wife, An Angel of Mercy.

A watercolor, done mostly with pure
liquid pigment. Quite abstract for me, I think!
 Number 7 in the challenge.

This is a Collage, using some art I made by
dripping and blowing water color paint.
Then filling in detail with pen and ink.
I then cut different parts of the painting apart and
layered the design.

Kiwi Study

Here is a pencil study of some Kiwi's
that Nina thought I should draw.
Used colored pencil here, and just a touch of
ink for the seeds. Colored pencil is interesting
to use , building the colors one
on top of the other to get the final look.
This is number 5 in the series.

First attempt at Oil Painting!

This is my first ever attempt at
oil painting. I think I have always
been a tiny bit afraid to try it- I am
not sure why. My grandmother
loved it and I believe it was
her medium of choice. But it has
always seemed like it was not a good
fit for me, even with out ever trying it!
Now that I have, I can't say
that I love it, but I will try it
again ....someday.
Anyway, this is number 4 in
the challenge. :)

Purple Flower

Flower from my garden drawn in
colored pencil.
Number 3 in the challenge.
